Can the bales be used immediately?

Yes the bales may be used as soon as the injection is complete.

How long can the bales be stored?

They can be stored for a full year with no more deterioration of the injected bale as compared to a normal bale.

Do the bales require any special handling (e.g. turning, stacking...)?

No special handling is required, the supplement is spread finely and evenly throughout the bale, and rarely leaks out. Occasionally we will get a small amount of leakage out of the holes where the probes insert into the bale, usually this amounts to less than a cup for the whole bale. They can be stacked on their sides or ends. They do not need to be turned.

Can I roll my bale out?

Yes, that is exactly how we feed.

Can it be used to inject anhydrous ammonia?

No it cannot. Only liquids can be used.

Can the bale be used in a tub grinder or bale shredder?

Yes it can. There is not a high enough concentration of supplement to pose a problem.

When should I get my Bales injected?

Most people get their bales injected in late fall or early winter.

Can I control how much supplement my cattle gets?

Absolutely, that is one of the strongest reasons to use our product. We can inject 1-8 gallons per round bale. We suggest 5 gallons for most people. Some farmers will inject 4 or 5 gallons for most of their bales, then inject 8 gallons into a second set. They will then use the 8 gallon bales for feeding just before, during and just after calving time in an effort to help the cow through this stressful time. We have had a great deal of positive feedback regarding improved calving.

What do you use for supplement / Can I use my own supplier?

We use a high protein supplement with a full vitamin and mineral package. Such supplements are readily available, and have been used for many years. We have also been able to customize supplement to suit your needs. If you are using the feed for animals other than cattle, or if your area has low Selenium, or other special needs, we can add or subtract specific minerals. We can also adjust the sweetness of the supplement on site if your animals are eating too much, or not enough.  In most cases the supplement will bring the protein of your feed up by 1 point per gallon of supplement (for example if your straw is 5% protein, 5 gallons of supplement will bring you to 10%). If you buy a Jaydar™ you are free to use your own supplement providers.

What does Jaydar™ stand for anyway???
